Heinrich Nowak is a German collector who has amassed an amazing collection of European prams, strollers and carriages. He has named his collection "Bewegte Kindheit" meaning "Moving Childhood". In German, the word "bewegte" means moving in two senses -- referring to motion, but also to an emotional feeling.
"Bewegte Kindheit", then, evokes beautifully the sense of prams as the vehicles of childhood, and also the emotions felt by those of us who love them. Herr Nowak is currently plannning a museum in Germany where his collection will be displayed; the opening is scheduled for sometime in 2009-2010. In the meantime, we're honored that Herr Nowak is sharing his pictures with us.
At the moment The Pram Museum is presenting these pictures just as they are, without captions, because we were so eager to share them. Eventually, Herr Nowak expects to have his own online museum, to which we will link proudly. Until then, enjoy!
For questions about Herr Nowak's collection, please contact him directly at rustyhenry@[REMOVETHIS]t-online.de. To use this email address, you will need to take the brackets and the words REMOVETHIS out of the address. There are no spaces between the "t" and "online" -- just a short dash. This is a junk mail prevention technique, so that Herr Nowak is not overwhelmed with spam.
